vegan desserts???

i bet you couldn't tell if this was a vegan cupcake???
Ive was recently watching an episode of cupcake wars and their was this duo of girls competing who called themselves the all vegan team. i thought to myself man these girls are stupid theres no meat in cupcakes so all cupcakes are vegan. then one of my friends explained to me that vegan not only means no meat it also mean absolutely no animal products so non dairy items all soy and stuff like that. I when she said that i kind of felt a little dumb because i didn't know that. About a week later i went on this website www.vegancupcakerecipes.com and i saw some interesting desserts one that caught my eye was the red velvet white chocolate vegan cupcake as you can see in the picture above. all you have to do is get
6 oz non-dairy white chocolate bars
6 Foil cupcake liners
6 oz vegan white chocolate
4 oz vegan whipped cream (1 2/4 c soy milk, 2/3 c melted margarine – 80% fat is best); warmed
1/4 c apple sauce
3/4 c soy yogurt
1/4 c soy milk

add red food coloring until desired red is achieved

after all the mixing is done separate into individual cupcake liners and bake in the oven at 350 degrees. normally people tell you a time to follow but i just check on them regularly to make sure they stay moist and have good texture. So after the cupcakes cooled and I added the white chocolate butter cream i tried them and when i say these cupcakes were amazing i mean it. they were the best tasting I've ever had. and the healthiest. i would recommend these to anyone. Enjoy!!!!!!

good old times.

Recently on basically my only trip back down home i went over my friends house and had dinner. when dinner was over their mom pulled out all these frozen desserts, boxed cookies. i was like man you guys don't make any desserts. a moment of pause came and then they all busted out laughing. the mother told me "no way that takes to much time and no one would help me any way. making desserts are in the past buying them is way easier". Growing up as a child i remember always helping my mom make homemade desserts weather it be cookies, cakes, cupcakes, or every now and then some pound cake or banana nut bread. We would always be in the kitchen cooking up something. Now a days you see parents at the grocery story buying unhealthy frozen desserts and just opening it up and feeding it to their kids after or even sometimes before dinner. i guess what I'm trying to say is were is the fun in that. What happened to the good old times, that at least i know i had with my parents, the good old quality time making and then eating what you worked so hard to make.to me the taste is way different to i think there s nothing better when you take fresh chocolate cookies out the oven and dip them in milk. its way better than taking it out of the plastic container all hard and crunchy.
I don't know how to interpret this new era. Not only does baking with your parents benefit you as a person learning new skills. But it also benefits your family and builds up good bonding time with your parents. So if your a kid reading this ask your mom every now and then if you can help her make some deleicious dessert.

cake boss

cake boss has recently come on the scene in reality television. the hit TV show airs on TLC. nationally known mainly because of its television exposure. Buddy Valastro owns Carlo's Bake Shop he is one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the United States. Master baker of Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey, Buddy is an accomplished fourth generation baker born into the business owned and operated by his parents and has earned his title of cake boss. He supervises a team that includes his mother, four older sisters and three brothers-in-law. the great thing about having the family working with him and on the show is the fact that it creates a lot of tension and drama. Especially with Buddy and his sister Mary. Other than the family drama the show produces an inside look of the skilled craft making of so many outrageous, out of this world cakes that some bakeries can only dream of making. not only is Carlo's Bakery well known for their cake but if you visit their website http://www.carlosbakery.com/ you will see so many delicious sweets mostly those coming from an Italians background.
in this video you get to see some of the best and most outrageous cakes buddy and his team has made over the years of the show. hope you enjoy

Cupcake wars

As i stated in one of my older blogs, this show is a very gritty competition were four bakers bake off in a race to see who can bake not only the best tasting cupcakes but also the most decorative. the challenge comes into affect when contestants barely have time to make the cupcakes because they are on a strict time limit as opposed to when they are baking in the comfort of their own bakery. In the first round, the contestants must create a cupcake based on taste alone with a theme associated including a twist ingredients in 45 minutes.
The second round is based on both taste and presentation. In 75 minutes, the contestants must make 3 different cupcakes, each showcasing a different taste with an outstanding presentation.
The third round is hardest, with the remaining 2 teams making 1,000 cupcakes in only 2 hours. Each team is assisted with the help of a 5-person team consisting of one carpenter and four baking interns to create the showcase for the cupcakes at the end the contestant with the best tasting and decorative cupcakes whose showcase best fits the theme wins the contest and 10,000 dollars

lucy and leos

cupcakes cupcakes cupcakes. when i first arrived on FSU's campus that's all i would hear about is cupcakes and i would wonder to myself whats the all the big talk about. then someone told me if i had ever gone to Lucy and Leos Cupcakery. i told them no and then they urged me to go. Lucy and Leo's is a nationally recognized cupcakery, that is located on Thomasville road in Tallahassee, Fl they recently became popular with there appearance in the popular TV competition show Cupcake wars. they get their name from their two dogs Lucy a black basset hound/lab mix and Leo a pointer/bulldog mix . so about a week later i went to this what seemed like a little hole in the wall as i walked into a warm greeting and a smell that went straight through my nose and told my brain i need some cupcakes. with daily flavors like chocolate, vanilla, red velvet and Oreo and special flavors depending on the day like carrot, peanut butter and chocolate snicker doodle, and monkey biz. it was kind of hard for me to choose because they all looked so good. so i ordered two red velvet and one carrot cupcake. the price was a little much but i did have to take into consideration the fact that they all make their cupcakes from scratch daily. when i first took a bite into the red velvet it just melted in my mouth the soft moisture of the cake and the creamy texture of the cream cheese butter cream it was pretty much one of the best cupcakes i had ever had. the carrot cake was likewise just as good. now every time i am in the mood for something sweet and have a little extra change in my pockets i always take a trip to Lucy and Leo's they really do have amazing cupcakes that are even better because they are home made from scratch.; they definitely have my stamp of approval if that means anything.

red velvet

lately in the baking world I have been hearing a lot about this red velvet...
and ive done my studying although i really like the taste of this cake it is a little misleading. but before i get into that let me explain to you the popularity and the recipe. every where you go that consist of baking and deserts you will almost always find this popular cake, cupcake, or even cookie now. red velvet is poplar for its bright red cake and tasty cream cheese frosting. what some people do not know and something that i did not know was that red velvet cake is actually chocolate cake with about 2 ounces of red food coloring to make it shine and stick out from and other normal cake. i just recently found this out as well but in the end it really has not really affected me that much i still like it as if it were really different from chocolate cake. if any of you would like to make and impact at the next big event you attend i have posted one of my favorite links and the one i use to make this very popular cake i hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

sn. when baking do not were anything stainable because the red food coloring will mess you up...

me feminine??

when it comes to the idea of baking and sweets, its mainly portrayed as a feminine activity. everywhere in society you see the women's role as the one who is in the kitchen baking sweets. i on the other hand enjoy watching shows about desserts and getting in the kitchen every now and then when i have some free time just to cook up a couple delicious sweets. sure i do get made fun of every now and then for doing what i do but it really does not affect me like you might thing it would i like getting in the kitchen and cooking up sweets and desserts it help get my mind of what ever is going on in the outside world and when im done cooking i get to enjoy what i made. if you look into television in todays society you will see that there is a rising fad of masculine bakers. whether it be the the new hit show cake boss or the gritty competition show cupcake wars. in the show cake boss it is a family of italian bakers who make all type of sweets but are especially known for their out of this world cakes the point of me bringing up this show is that shop is run by a man and there are also many men working there. the other sow i brought u was cupcake wars its a competition show to see who can make the best tasting and looking cupcakes. some would assume that a bunch of women would be the competition but there is always at least one male and sometimes that male will come out with the win. so when people criticize me and say derogatory things to me about baking i tend to just let it go in one ear and out the other because baking is a hobby and whether female or male it should be enjoyed by all because it is very interesting and very satisfying when you are done baking.
